Tooth Extraction

Third molars which are known as wisdom teeth ( excessive decay, pushing the interior teeth, problems in the occlusion ) there are many reasons why you may need your tooth extracted. Excessive tooth decay, tooth infection and crowding ( orthodontics demands ) are all important reasons for teeth to be extracted in order to keep the mouth healthy.

At Premium Cosmetic Laser Center, we understand that the thought of a tooth extraction can be daunting. However, dental extraction is often a necessary procedure to protect your overall oral health and prevent further complications.

Tooth Extraction

Sustain a happy, healthy smile.

What to Expect

Before the procedure, your dentist will schedule an X-ray of your tooth to determine whether the extraction may be simple or surgical. In either case, you’ll receive anesthesia to numb the area around your tooth so you won’t feel a thing!

In the hours immediately following your procedure, you will begin to notice the anesthesia gradually wearing off. It is normal to experience prolonged numbness in the lips, tongue, or cheek for a few hours, as well as minor swelling and a tingling sensation as feeling returns. Throughout this initial recovery phase, our dental team at Premium Cosmetic Laser Center will closely monitor your progress and provide personalized pain management strategies to ensure your transition to home care is as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Aftercare and Recovery Tips

Proper aftercare is essential for a fast and complication-free recovery. Following these guidelines will help your healing timeline:

  • Bite on Gauze: Keep the gauze pad in place for at least 30-45 minutes after the procedure to encourage clot formation.
  • Manage Swelling: Apply an ice pack to the outside of your cheek in 10-minute intervals.
  • Dietary Adjustments: Stick to soft foods like yogurt, pudding, or soup for the first 24 hours. Avoid using a straw, as the suction can dislodge the blood clot (leading to dry socket).
  • Oral Hygiene: Do not rinse vigorously or brush the extraction site for the first 24 hours. After that, gentle salt-water rinses can help keep the area clean.
